KONCEPT
THE ASSIGNMENT
For this assignment, we were asked to create a logo for a record label. We had to work with two random prompts. The first being the genre for our record label, and the second being what our logo takes inspiration from. My two prompts were Kpop and Sci-fi.
FONT AND COLORS
THE CONCEPT (pun intended)
I did a bit of research and found that in Kpop culture, the term “concept” is used to describe an overarching theme that a group or individual artist follows. The concept influences style choices and lyrics for example. I used this word and replaced the “c” with a “k” to be more unique and represent Kpop. As for the logo, I wanted to keep it simple so it wouldn’t distract from the album covers.
To incorporate my sci-fi prompt, I wanted the logo to be abstract and be suggestive of technology or the future. I used triangles to accomplish this. The logo has two variations. The stacked version is a simplified version which could be used on the side of a CD case for example. The triangles make up a “K” for Koncept and the negative space is a rewind symbol. The alternative version would be used more formally.
